Distinguished Guest Emeritus Professor Pat Sikes Cert Ed, BEd, PhD
“As Professor Emeritus I continue to be involved in research, writing, out-reach, and consultancy. My academic career began in 1978 and since then my interests have been around: qualitative, and especially narrative and auto/biographical approaches, to research and its re-presentation; research ethics; and social justice issues. Since 2012 my preoccupations have been with investigating the perceptions and experiences of children and young people who have a parent with young onset dementia, and with issues related to research ethics – including producing the MFHEA Guidelines for Ethical Practice and Research Integrity. To date I have published 61 peer refereed journal articles, 51 chapters in edited collections, written 12 books, and edited 9. I have supervised 64 doctoral degrees to successful completion. In September 2018 I was awarded the John Nisbet Fellowship by the British Educational Research Association for an outstanding contribution to educational research over a career and as far as I can I hope to continue to live up to this honour.”
– Professor Pat Sikes, 2022
Following the Ethics Seminar which was held in September 2022, the MFHEA organised a Workshop with Professor Pat Sikes on the 9th of February, on the implementation of the Guidelines for Ethical Practice and Research Integrity.
