A Delegation from HAKA Visited MFHEA
A delegation from HAKA, the Estonian Quality Agency for Education, visited the MFHEA premises on the 14th May.
The delegation met the Chairman of the Authority Dr Edward Woods, the Chairman of the Quality Assurance Committee and Ambassador to Estonia and Finland Dr Kenneth Vella, MFHEA CEO Dr Rose Anne Cuschieri and the Head of Accreditation, Quality Assurance and Validation Mr Lawrence Azzopardi. This visit is one of the initiatives following the signing of an MOU between the two authorities in March 2024.
MFHEA officials discussed with the delegation the current challenges of the Authority, particularly in view of the application for ENQA membership.
Mr David Bonello and Mr Jon Vercellono from MQRIC explained the role and remit of their unit while the Manager Research Dr Jana Kazarjan briefly explained the research projects and other work that the Research Unit conducts.
A presentation on the Quality Assurance online Teaching and Learning Regulations and program accreditation was also done by the Authority’s experts.
The delegation also met Ms Denise Gatt and Dr Robert Cassar, Director and Assistant Director respectively in the Quality Assurance Department. Information was given on the quality assurance processes in the Maltese compulsory education.
On 15th May, the CEO of MFHEA, Dr Rose Anne Cuschieri, the Head of Accreditation, Quality Assurance, and Validation, Mr Lawrence Azzopardi, and the Communications Manager, Ms Martina-Anne Attard, along with the delegation from HAKA, the Estonian Quality Agency for Education, had the privilege of being invited to the premises of the Institute of Tourism. During this visit, the representatives were guided by CEO Mr Pierre Fenech and Mr Gino Schiavone, Head of Quality Assurance, who provided valuable insights into ITS’s mission and vision through an engaging presentation and discussions.
Later in the afternoon, the journey continued with an invitation to Ascencia Malta in Floriana. Ms Tess Giordmaina, the School Director, provided the representatives with the opportunity to discover the newly refurbished studio equipped with roving mics, aimed at improving higher education for students abroad.
